American Clipper Sierra Nevada, launched 1854. From what little information we have about this ship, we gather it was launched in 1854, and in 1855, became stuck within the dock at Liverpool, breaking her back. In 1863 the ship was sold and renamed Royal Dane. We can clearly see the name Sierra Nevada, so is this photo as early as the 1850's? Is it, in fact, as far back as 1855 in the Wellington Dock at Liverpool where the ship's back was broken? A reproduction of this original photo / photo-postcard size 10" x 7" approx available.
