Spahi Class. French Destroyers of the Spahi Class. Photographs and history of the French destroyers of the Spahi class, including Spahi, Hussard, Carabinier, Lansquenet, Mameluk, Ensigne Henry and Aspirant Herber. Similar to previous destroyers but larger the Spahi Class. Well constructed destroyers but did not make good long range escort destroyers. Spahi was built at F et Ch de la mediterranee and launched on the 3rd May 1908. along with her sister ship. lansquenet rescued 1162 men from UC38 and torpedoed Cruiser troopship Chateaurenault. on the 14th December 1917 in the Ionian Sea |
