History of the Japanese battleship Satsuma. Satsuma was the first Japanese battleship to be built in Japan. The Satsuma saw service during the first world war. Under the terms of the 1922 Washington Treaty, the Satsuma had to be scrapped but was disarmed and later used as a target ship and sunk by gunfire from the Mutsu and Nagato on 7th September 1924. | ||
