Prinz Adalbert of the German Prinz Adalbert class Armoured or heavy Cruiser. The Prinz Adalbert was built at Kiel Dockyard and laid down in 1900, launched 22nd June 1901 and completed for the German navy 12th January 1904. She was intended for use in Oversea cruiser Station but instead was used as a Gunnery training Ship. When war broke out in 1914. Prinz Adalbert was mobilized for war service. but on the 23rd October 1914 was torpedoed and sunk with heavy loss of life by British Submarine E8, off Libau Displacement: 9719 tons. Speed: 20.5 Knots, Compliment: 591, Armament: Four 210mm Guns (2x2), Ten 150mm Twelve 88mm, Four machine guns and Four 450mm Torpedo Tubes.(submerged) |
