Battleships-Cruisers.co.uk German Navy Cruisers Kolberg Class

[UP] - Deutschland Class - Light Cruisers - Protected Cruisers - Kolberg Class - Battlecruisers - Nurnberg - K Class - Emden - Leipzig - Hipper Class

The Kolberg German Light Cruiser Class, Consisted of 4 Cruisers, Kolberg, Mainz, Coln, and Augsburg. ordered under the German naval programmed of 1906 - 1907. These cruisers were a good improvement on the Dresden class. increasing by a 5th in displacement and armed with an extra 2 main armament guns.

Kolberg was built by Schichau at Danzig and launched 14th November 1908 and completed 21st June 1910. the Kolberg was re armed in 1916 - 1917, improving its secondary armament with six 5.9-inch guns.  Again in 1918 when her AA armament was improved. She served with the German high seas fleet throughout World war One, and after the war she was given to France and became the French ship Colmar. . stricken iin 1927 she was  broken up at Brest in 1929 

Displacement:  4362 tons and 4915 deep load.  Speed; 26 knots, Range:  3500 Miles at 14 Knots except (Maine)3630 miles , Kolberg 3250 miles at 14 knots,  Compliment: 367  Armament: Twelve 4.1 inch guns (10.5cm)  Two 17.7 inch  (45cm) Torpedo Tubes (submerged in the beam) and 100 mines. 

Kolberg 14th November 1908 Broken up in 1929.
Mainz 23rd January 1909 Sunk on 28th August 1914.
Coln (or K?n) 5th June 1909 Sunk on 28th August 1914.
Augsberg 10th July 1909 Broken up in 1922.
